Random Entertainment News and Such

Hello, it's me. It's me baby. My bad, I was singing some Isley Brothers and I got distracted. Anyhoo, I am here to share my two cents on the pop culture news and all the other interesting bits o' information I read from somewhere else. Then again, there are probably some things I haven't read but just thought aboot. *Barron Hilton pledges 97% of his fortune to charity: A lot of the sites said that Paris should start tightening up a little. I have read that her inheritance may drop from $100 million down to about $1.5 million. I have also read reports that she has already gotten a cut of the Rubles because he admired how she got her hustle on. Wow, there's nothing more rewarding than being a loopy, lanky, superficial, slut-whore who serves three weeks in jail. I can't knock Paris' hustle though; she managed to screw and party her way into millions. Someone needs to document my get togethers so I can get some gas Rubles. *Alexander Graham Bell didn't inve

Don't Cancel "Zoey 101"

I hope Nickelodeon doesn't cancel Jamie-Lynn Spears' TV show. I have never watched the damn show to be honest, and I don't plan on ever doing so. I just want them to take a firm stand against all the parents who are running around the country screaming "our 'tweens don't have a role model anymore"! I want Nick to issue a firm statement saying that they aren't going to fire an employee (because Jamie-Lynn is an employee of theirs in a way) because she made a mistake in her personal life. I want them to actually address the issue and piss off the nervous parents who have children that heard their favorite star announce her pregnancy. As a parent, I think that it's sad that Jamie-Lynn will have to give up what little childhood she has to raise a child. I don't care how much money she has, she is still a child. I already say that her pregnancy is the result of her making an unwise decision as well as having a mother who enabled her to make that dec

Who's to Blame?

As we have all heard, Britney Spears' 16 year old sister Jamie-Lynn is pregnant by her 19 year old boyfriend. I was actually very shocked since I was actually thinking that Britney was the irregular and erratic one in the family. I have since realized that there is obviously a common thread with Jamie-Lynn & Britney...their parents. Before the pregnancy announcement yesterday, everyone blamed Britney for her own issues. I was one of them since Britney is 26 years old with two sons. Anything she does, from shaving her head to losing custody of her sons, is her fault. However, reports have surfaced over the last few months that Britney lost her virginity at 14 and was given an unusually large amount of freedom for a child. In the case of many young celebrities, they are given adult freedom and responsibilities instead of the ability to be a child. Since more reports have come up saying that Jamie-Lynn's boyfriend of three years (making him 16 when dating her at 13) was

Comedy in the Spears Family

So, Britney Spears' 16 year old sister Jamie Lynn is reportedly pregnant. You know something, I think that's funny. Maybe Jamie Lynn will do something that Britney can't do...maintain custody! I'll update whether or not it's true. I heard it @ TMZ.com, who heard it from OK! Magazine However, I think this is true. Now, I have a question for the jury: Britney Spears is a train wreck from her bad weave down to her inability to drive with her kids in the car. Now, her teenage sister is allegedly preggers. Is it safe to assume that Mr & Mrs Spears aren't really raising their children very well??? I'm just putting it out there.

Mad Random Thoughts, Version n.0.

I had plans on keeping count of my Mad Random series entries, but I really forgot. I also don't plan on going back to count where I left off either. Therefore, this is Version n.0. I might come up with a new letter later, but let's not put the cart before the groceries or something. I don't know where to begin, so I'll just start saying stuff... *Thanks to those who came to Ralph's birthday party Saturday. the leftover Patron will be served at the New Year's Eve sit and chill thingy at my house on New Year's Eve. (Damn that was redundant). *How many of us got that text message saying: Sing with me! Oh the weather outside is frightful n warm sex sounds so delightful n when theres no 1 else u knw, txt a hoe, txt a hoe, txt a hoe or another that said something about slapping someone in memory of Ike Turner? *I was having a flashback today and I started thinking about the box of cassette tapes I still own. Among them is a Celine Dion tape with "My Heart Wil

Why Chief Paudert! WHY!!!

A long time ago, I was battling some hecklers in school. Word had spread about a disability I have and several of the students thought it would be nice to "make" me tell them what was wrong. I was so angry and upset that I went to talk with a counselor. She told me that if I was okay with them knowing what was wrong and how I felt, then tell them. However, if I wanted it to remain private, then simply say "I will not dignify that with an answer". A few days later, they were at it again, naming all of the interesting little things they could think of to ruffle my feathers. "Are you retarded? Do you have a hernia? I heard you have a fake leg!" (Yes, someone said that. Man, kids are rough) I simply said "I will not dignify that with an answer". Oddly, that worked. The moral of that story was simple...people are going to try to get a rise out of you. You could either fall into the trap, or simply let them assume or think what they want. C

Spanking...it Didn't Kill Me!

You know something, I have realized that the old phrase of a bad apple spoiling the whole bunch is very true. Of course, that phrase has evolved and modernized to the point where it's now something like one person "effing it up for everybody". In today's episode, we find that a few people who turned corporal punishment into abuse has made it difficult for Old School Parenting to continue into the future. Before some of my older readers look at me funny and wonder what I know about Old School Parenting, I will say that I am a product of said style. I wasn't much of a difficult child, but when my foolishness surpassed the loss of privileges, I got spanked. I always knew why I was getting said spanking, and I made darn sure not to repeat that action. Over the years, some people have turned spanking into "beating". Some parents felt the need to physically reprimand their kids with objects you shouldn't even hit an adult with. I mean really, why would you

Tam's List of Annoying Americans

This is not politcally correct. Hell, has anything I've written been politically correct? Anyhoo, there is no particular order, but these are people that make me want to get up and cleanse my colon. * Britney Spears * I don't know whether or not to pity her, worry about her, or slap the hell out of her. She is the only white woman I've ever known to lose and regain custody of her children more times than I've gone to the Chinese Buffet at the intersection of Ross and Winchester. She wasn't really much of a singer, but she has gone off and messed up the one thing she could do...dance aimlessly. Someone should talk her into going back to Louisiana to take Driver's Ed again. * Star Jones * Star is smart, eloquent, and well dressed. However, I have never met a woman who is in deeper denial than she is. I will commend her on making a name for herself, but I was less than enthralled when she kept telling people she lost half of her body weight from Pilates and a diet.

The Bolton High Saga

I understand that high school football is a truly sensitive subject around these parts. Some schools have fans who may have never been a student at the school. Other schools have boosters that come from all over the country just to share their views on what the team should or didn't do. After reading the Commercial Appeal message board for a little while, I saw quite clearly that this issue with Bolton has caused so much controversy that people literally got into a cyber-fight about it. I will tell you what I think...well, you knew I was going to do that because I am a blogger. Bloggers tend to tell people what they think all the time. Every now and then, people agree..other times, people do what they did on the Commercial Appeal website...dissent. I would like to tell you that the student's parent has not done anything new. I have known many parents who have used a friend or relative's address in a better area to get their children into a better school. Fortunately,

Tamara Mitchell Ford...Again

Have you ever wanted to grab someone by the shoulders and shake them until they get somewhat of a clue? I feel that way about Tamara Mitchell Ford. I am almost embarassed to share her first name. Truthfully, I don't understand what all it is going to take for her to understand that she has a problem, and she needs to be in an inpatient facility until she gets her act together. Oh, she is in one...jail. I was shocked that her initial bail was only $100. Actually, I was amused that she was able to drive drunk without a license and have a car wreck involving three cars and refuse a breathalyzer test for less than what I spent buying video games the week before. However, I was pleased to see the increase to $50,000. I just want to know why in the blue hell would the judge even consider $100. That doesn't sit well with my soul. I decided to do some brief research on Tamara Mitchell Ford. A Yahoo search for her name yielded about 1,250,000 searches within 0.02 seconds. Excep

What Happened to Today's Woman?

I know that everyone makes mistakes, but when you live in a perpetual state of "oops, got to be more careful", then you haven't really learned anything. That applies to everyone. However, what I do know is that women have been losing their minds lately! There was a time when a woman would take care of herself, be active in Church (no matter the denomination), work (inside or outside the home), raise the children, cook, clean, keep the children looking neat, hang with her girls every now and then, keep her husband happy, and still manage not to fall apart, catch a school meeting. Oh, she would be tired, but she would turn around and do it again the next day. Then there are some women I knew personally that did all of that and then went to college, opened a business, or did all of that without a father or husband. There was a time that women really had it together..but in my opinion, we starting to slip. Now I am only 25 years old, so that means that there are things I'

When is Black Pride Too Strong?

I was sitting in my favorite thinking spot (bed) thinking about how many issues are floating around in the Black community. Here are some of the ones I thought of: *Crime *Unhealthy Relationships *Unhealthy Living *Lack of Proper Education *Lack of Respect for Each Other *Improperly Raised Children *Inability to Acheive and/or Maintain Wealth *Lack of Proper Focus I am certain that skeptics may say that those are not restricted to the Black race, and I will agree. However, I am only focusing on my Black people right now. I wish I had an answer to this problem, but seeing as I am not Jesus, I am not The Way. (While I consider myself to be rather cool, I am not nearly as cool as Jesus. He fed a lot of people with one loaf of bread while I am still trying to find out how ten pounds of hot wings NEVER seems to feed six friends). In the end, I will say that there is a common bond that can help solve some of the issues I have named and the others I have missed--we won't reach out fo

Tamara Mitchell-Ford & Britney Spears...

So, I titled this blog "Tamara Mitchell-Ford & Britney Spears..." Why? Because they are two train wrecks. That's a very strong statement to make, I'm sure. However, please tell me that they aren't similar! *Both have children that don't appear to be cared for well (I stress "appear") by them, and end up with their respective fathers because they are in some kind of mess. *Both of them have kids by men that get teased, heckled, disrespected, and who have other kids they don't appear to take care of. *Both of them need help. *Both of them have gotten help that doesn't appear to work. *Both of them keep getting slaps on the wrist. *Both of them still haven't seen that they are truly in trouble. You see the similarities? I know I do. However, I hope that the both of them look at the mess they have been in and realize that they are hurting themselves, their families, and people who care for them. Hopefully, Britney will look at that MT

From Underneath My Poofed Hair

I'm just going to "Let the Feeling Flow" like Peabo Bryson. *Where the hell is Peabo Bryson anyway?* Okay, I'm at my desk eating some nachos right. For some reason, eating nachos makes me think. Chicken does too, but that's for later on. Ralph totally packed my a lunch for work today because he got tired of me coming home with a "buried n-word you need to eat" headache. What are the chances of my workgroup doing a United Way drive with nachos, pina coladas, and daquiris? *They are virgin. These would taste better, however, with some 93 octane* So, it's 9/11/07, the six year anniversary. I honestly had a moment of silence this morning. I also had a flashback to what I was doing the day the Towers fell. I was returning to Richardson Towers after a drunken night out with some of my U of M crew. What does that mean??? *That means I've been a lush for over six damn years.* Seriously though, I look at how things have changed from then to now. I don'

Stick it to the Jena 6 DA

It took my dear friend Thad to write a blog about the Jena 6 for me to cosign to. Of course you have to be under a rock to not know about this, but needless to say, this is an outright travesty. The head prosecutor stated that the boys assaulted the victim with a dangerous weapon--a shoe. A woman called in to the Michael Baisden show and said that we should help get these dangerous weapons off of the street. I agree...so here's the DA's address to mail those dangerous weapons in: Mr. Reed Walters, District Attorney 28th Judicial District Attorney's Office P.O. Box 1940 Jena, LA 71342 Any old shoes you have should be mailed in to this man ASAP. Besides, we don't want any kids to get a hold of these weapons. p.s.-wear black on 9/20/07 in support of Mychal Bell. He is set to be sentenced on that day. p.p.s.-you'll have to send it US Mail since FedEx doesn't ship to PO Boxes.

My Two Cents About Mike Vick

I'm certain that everyone has their views about Michael Vick and his legal woes. I would like to donate a few pennies to this situation. First of all, I'm certain that Michael Vick is no fool. He knew that regardless of how much or how little involvement he had in the Dogfighting realm, he knew that once the other defendants plead guilty, he was over and out. Of course you know that at times, a person will sing like David Ruffin from The Temptations if he or she can avoid serious jail time. I will, however, tell you why Michael Vick is catching the pure Hades that he is catching...and it's called PETA. I know, I know, PETA is a group that looks out for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, but I think that they don't ethically treat people well at all. Before Michael even said a word, PETA had convicted him. That is what I didn't like. Of course, my African American brothers and sisters had pulled the Race Card, but I told them to save that card for another trial,
RuralFreeDelivery posed a great point on my MyFoxMemphis version of the blog "Anybody Isn't Better Than Mayor Herenton". Part of his post stated: What if I have anger and contempt towards Herenton, but I don't feel that any of the new candidates have a compelling vision or plan for the city? Should I just not vote? I couldn't help but to think about that. I thought about it to the point where I need to elaborate on that myself. Since I was 18 years old, I've been told to vote. I read all the History books and articles about the Suffragists and how Black people fought and died so I can cast a vote. My first time using that right came in 2000 when I prepared to officially prove my maturity by voting in the Presidential Election. Well, that went to pot... Not to dive too terribly deep into that, I just didn't get who I voted for. This happened again in 2004, and that marked the beginning of my Voter Frustration. I voted for Harold Ford, Jr...and blast i

An Open Letter to Memphis Drivers

Dear Memphis Drivers, I'm asking you all to do one thing - drive safely! For some reason, you feel the need to do everything but focus on the road. I know that phone call seems diabolically important to answer, but I guarantee that there are places to pull over if that is indeed the case. Some people are truly able to multitask, I've witnessed it firsthand. However, some people aren't blessed with that skill. Unfortunately, we find that out when there is a horrendous pile-up on an already busy street. Just yesterday, I had the opportunity of adding nearly 20 minutes on my daily commute because one person wanted to hold up traffic to finish phonecall. I thought it was amusing to see the MATA Bus whizz past my little Cobalt, but disturbing when that distracted driver had the nerve to yell obsenities at those who blew their horns to move him out of the way. Drivers of Memphis, you and I need to work together. We need to be safe. We must be examples of safety for young d

Anybody Isn't Better Than Mayor Herenton

Before you assume that this is a blog about my support of Mayor Herenton, please read to the end. I know some people will instantly overlook this because of the title. That's fine. All it does is confirm a feeling that I've had for the last year or so. This blog isn't to tell the City of Memphis who I'm voting for. All I'm doing is speaking to the voters of this city, as well as the 837 people running for mayor. At this point in time, I'm annoyed with a lot of people. I'm annoyed with the people who have decided that due to disliking Mayor Herenton for whatever reasons (and you are entitled to that feeling), they are going to run for mayor to "prove a point". They are frustrated with what they feel Mayor Herenton is not doing, or what he has said or done. They have decided that the best thing for Memphis is to get Mayor Herenton out of office after 16 years of service. Unfortunately for the people of Memphis, a few of the people who are run
