T.E.N. Entertainment Hot Toddy, aka-2008 in Review

Well, I don't know where to begin, so I guess I'll just start writing and see where I'll end up. *This year, Lil' Wayne managed to stay relevant...so relevant that he has earned himself 8 Grammy nominations, and gone platinum as hell. He has also done more guest spots on songs than anybody else. I think he's a short, funny looking little thing, but I can't knock his hustle. I CAN, however, knock his face for being ugly. * Taraji P. Henson proved to us that she is more than just Shug from "Hustle & Flow" by earning THREE Screen Actors Guild nominations and such. The only problem is that in spite of having more nominations for said S.A.G. Awards than any other actor this year, the poor woman was seldom mentioned as the media focused more on Brad Pitt and the other actors who received two noms each. Booooo.... *Who'da thunk that Sean Kingston would lose weight this year? I ain't mad at him though. *Who'da thunk that you could make $75 a

This is one of those serious notes that need to be read by everyone. If this doesn't apply to you then talk about it to someone that it does apply to. This ain't a holiday note, so if you aren't in the mood for some real, then this ain't for you. As a mother of a three year old girl, I find that I am responsible for her well being--physical and emotional. No matter how difficult she can be, I make it my business to show her that I love her. I don't hesitate to tell her all the good things she does and not dwell on the bad. My daughter has never heard me refer to her as "bad"...however, I do call her "Nutbush" because she is loopy as hell. Either way, I do not focus on the negative with her. I do not decimate her spirit because I want to build her up. I may not get everything right with her, but I will always do the best I know how. Not just because she is my daughter, but because she is part of a generation that will care for us. I want her to be

T.E.N. Crime Report, aka-If You Know ANYTHING!

Check this article out: MEMPHIS, TN - The death of 18 year-old Wajonel DeSilva, found dead on the side of the road in East Memphis over the weekend, is still a mystery to investigators and to her family. "I just wanted to see her so I could kiss her," says DeSilva's mother, Toni Ladmirault. "I wanted to tell Jonel I love her. But I'm not going to be able to see my baby." While other moms are planning for Christmas, Toni is planning for her oldest daughter's funeral. "She probably won't be able to have an open casket," she says, "because they say they've never seen something so horrible like that." Passing motorists discovered DeSilva's body around 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2008, lying on an entrance ramp at Interstate 240 and Mount Moriah. How she got there and how she died are still unknown. Ladmirault says her daughter's upper body and face were so badly mutilated, Memphis Police asked her to identify her chi

The Official T.E.N. Economy Rant

Nobody has to tell you that the economy is at a level some of us have never seen. Our money is not stretching like it used to, and just when we think we get a break in one area, we get blindsided in another. I know that we never expected for gas to return to the two dollar range ever again, so needless to say, seeing gas as low as $1.35 a gallon is truly a blessing. However, with milk being nearly $4 a gallon…who really won? Many of us have found that the jobs we love and value are not cutting it anymore. I know that I have long pledged my allegiance to the Fred until my retirement, but seeing how the best paying jobs are too far out of my reach, I have began to reach outside for potential employers who pay a little more. I could probably find another well-paying job elsewhere, and in due time I will. In the meantime, I join the list of millions who are really being affected by this economy. Who is really being affected by this economy? I mean, not in a scientific, Rasmussen pol

Heller! I am in the process of sitting here with an ankle brace on trying to figure out where I went askew. Apparently, I am fragile, but only on the left side. I guess that means I ain't right. *rimshot* So, now that the audience is throwing beer bottles at me, I'll get started with my report. *Here, we have Eva Longoria smoking. Nobody really knew she did, so there was a little bit of a gasp or something. * Britney Spears has come back for real this time. While only 3.7 million people watched her MTV special, her album is selling. I'm glad for the ol' hick. Seriously, I just hate that she is still under strict watch. We'll never know how recovered she is if they won't let her DO anything on her own... * Anne Heche is pregnant. This fool here has been gay, married, divorced and now is pregnant by her boyfriend. Pray for this fool. *The State of California is going broke. They may have to even stop current construction projects within the next few months. Wa

In case you all have not been made aware, there is a lawsuit goings on in regards to President-Elect Obama’s citizenship. Who’s the one starting all this Tomfoolery?? This man: Alan Keyes... This Republican Rat Bastard is trying to drag out the New Jersey case stating that they do not believe that Obama is a "natural-born citizen" of the United States, and he is trying to prevent the Electoral College from confirming him as the 44th President of the United States. Now here’s the thing...Justice David Souter has shot this shiggity down before. However...THIS mofo here has given the case some more steam to go before high court: That’s right, CLARENCE THOMAS!!! Clarence "who put this pubic hair on my Coke" Thomas! These two angry, jealous, Black ’Publicans are trying to argue this situation down. At any rate, here’s the Essence.com interview with Alan Keyes. ESSENCE.COM: What exactly do you want to accomplish with this lawsuit? ALAN KEYES: I had read a little bit abo

T.E.N. Music Pages, aka-R.I.P. Odetta

NEW YORK – Odetta, the folk singer with the powerful voice who moved audiences and influenced fellow musicians for a half-century, has died. She was 77. Odetta died Tuesday of heart disease at Lenox Hill Hospital, said her manager of 12 years, Doug Yeager. She was admitted to the hospital with kidney failure about three weeks ago, he said. In spite of failing health that caused her to use a wheelchair, Odetta performed 60 concerts in the last two years, singing for 90 minutes at a time. Her singing ability never diminished, Yeager said. "The power would just come out of her like people wouldn't believe," he said. With her booming, classically trained voice and spare guitar, Odetta gave life to the songs by workingmen and slaves, farmers and miners, housewives and washerwomen, blacks and whites. First coming to prominence in the 1950s, she influenced Harry Belafonte, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and other singers who had roots in the folk music boom. An Odetta record on the turnta

I got some of everything to talk aboot. So, I'll just gwon get started: *The Jacksons Today* This is what I picked up from a rather reliable site: *Marlon Jackson, 51, an original Jackson Five member who stocks shelves at a Vons supermarket in San Diego, had to temporarily move into an extended-stay hotel. *Randy, 46, does odd jobs, including fixing cars in a Los Angeles garage owned by a family friend. He recently claimed Michael was going to give him $1.7 million - "a pipe dream," said another brother last week. *Jackie, 56, the oldest and most debonair of the brothers, is struggling to manage his son Siggy's aspiring rap career after an Internet clothing business startup and attempts to produce music failed. *Jermaine, 54, shuttles back and forth from his girlfriend's home in Ventura County, Calif., to his parents' mansion in Encino, where Jackie and Randy still live. *Tito, 55, is the only brother still making music, but it's a meager living.
