Jonathan Martin, I Respect You

I think the title says it all, but I strongly respect Jonathan for coming forward. To be a man of color in the NFL willing to walk away for the sake of his safety says a lot. To be open about the abuse that he was subjected to by Richie Incognito..it just inspires me. He did something that many men, let alone men of color, would not do. Make no bones about it, Martin was bullied. He was harassed. He was verbally abused. His work environment was made hostile. Incognito did not just give him a little playful rookie heckling, he threatened Jonathan's life.  As if he did not disrespect that man enough, he calls him a "half nigger". Yes, yes, y'all...add racism to that. My support of Jonathan Martin comes because he went against society's norms. Before the content of the voicemails were released, commenters confirmed why many men stay silent when they are victimized: "Dude, man up" "Rookies can't hack it" "Punk" "Wimp" Even t...

Existing While Fat, aka - YES, WE KNOW!

I'm going to say that this is one of those blogs in which I prolly border on vulnerable and angry as hell.  MAYBE it has to do with me being a Gemini.  Could be that I'm going crazy as a bag full of cats.  This is why I blog...because I needs to talk and fokes be all busy doing adult stuff like..mopping. Being fat in a society in which bullying is condoned makes life very difficult.  It takes a certain degree of confidence to simply function because people really think that it's perfectly excuseable to treat you differently because you aren't of average weight..or the weight THEY think you need to be.  I know so many people saw that and started into their "boo hoo, cry me a fatass river.  Fatty is sad because people think she needs to be smaller".  Yes, people really do treat you that way.  When people who are overweight demand to be respected and treated like a human REGARDLESS of their current size, there are always people who simply say "no"....

This morning before my Grandma picked up the kids for school, I heard a troubling exchange between middle school girls. From what I could see out my patio door, it was one smaller girl surrounded by 4 taller girls. I turned down the TV and listened. The ringleader, who I referred to as Baby D had a lot to get off her chest to the young girl. As a matter of fact, Baby D did most of the talking for a good minute. "I don't preshate you talking to my man, bitch. You think you all that, but you ain't shit! You think you bout something because you got good hair? Bitch, I'll snatch you baldheaded about mine. Don't be rolling your eyes at me either because I'll punch you in both eyes". "I'm not trying to get with your man! He is my partner in a project! That's all! Please stop with the crap before I call the police on you"! "Bitch, put that Cricket phone down! You'll be knocked out and I'll be long gone before you...
