722 Lester Street
Memphis has experienced one of the most traumatic experiences in my 25 years. For those who aren't familiar with what happened, here is the information that has been uncovered:
*Six people were found dead in a rented home on 722 Lester Street.
*Of those six, four were adults and two were toddlers.
*Three children are still alive: ages 7 years, 4 years, and 10 months.
*The bodies were found Monday evening.
Now, there has been information uncovered about the man who rented the home, 30 year old Cecil Dotson.
Cecil has already had the privilege of having his criminal record spilled across the internet. As a matter of fact, he was charged in January for aggravated robbery and was due in court on Monday morning. There is yet any confirmation as to whether or not he is one of the victims (as of the time I'm writing this at 16:45 on 3/4/08), but his sister said he had been in the house.
What hurts me the most is the fact that as of now, nobody has come forward with any information. I certainly hope that if anyone knows anything, they come forward. We don't need anyone thinking that they're "snitching" or "turning or their boys". I'm going to have to break it to the community of bloggers and readers this way:
If you know anything, even if you think it's nothing, please call Crimestoppers.
Did you see anyone check the mailbox?
Did you see any cars driving past the house slowly?
What time did you last see lights come on or go off on 722 Lester?
I don't care what information you have, please come forward. Don't think about your "boys" or your "people", think about three children at LeBonheur clinging and fighting for their lives. Think about the trauma they had to endure if they witnessed the crimes happening. I am glad that someone noticed something was wrong in time to find them when they did. However, I refuse to believe that nobody heard screams, gunshots, or anything.
Please call 528-CASH people. Do it for those three children.
